Herringbone Shower Wall, Cut Around the Plumbing
Gray tile laid in herringbone and carried into a recessed niche. The progress photo shows the pattern being cut around the valve before the glass and brass hardware went on.
Blue Hexagon Accents in the Floor and Niche
Neutral rectangular wall tile with a blue hexagon mosaic repeated on the shower floor and inside the niche, so the accent reads as one detail.
Large-Format Wall Tile Over a Hex Mosaic Floor
Large marble-look tile on the walls for fewer grout lines, with a small hexagon mosaic on the floor to follow the slope.
Tile Installation FAQs
Common Questions
How much does tile installation cost per square foot in Atlanta?
It depends on the size of the area, the tile and pattern, and how much preparation the surface needs. A backsplash and a shower are different jobs even with the same tile. We measure and give you a written price.
Can you tile over existing tile?
Sometimes. On a floor, new tile can go over old tile that is flat and firmly bonded, if the extra height works at doors and transitions. In a shower, the old tile comes out so we can check and rebuild the waterproofing behind it. We tell you which applies at the walkthrough.
What is the difference between cement board and waterproofing?
Cement board is a backer. It does not stop water. A shower needs a continuous waterproof membrane over the backer, carried up the walls, into the corners, around the niche and over the curb.
